APSX SPYDER Desktop CNC Milling Machine for Metals
High precision, rigid and portable CNC machine that can cut metals, plastics and wood. APSX SPYDER CNC Machine can machine ALUMINUM, STEEL, BRONZE, BRASS, DELRIN (ACETAL), WOOD and other material with high precision. It is powered by the SPYDER CNC control software for free (no subscription fees). The user interface is similar to Tormach PathPilot.
APSX SPYDER is a complete, ready-to-mill system that includes embedded PC, keyboard, monitor, pendant and a mist system. It is designed to replicate vertical machine center precision in a router package. It uses just a standard wall outlet for power.
What is CNC machining exactly?
The Spyder CNC is a perfect recipe for sustainable manufacturing.
APSX SPYDER is a no-maintenance and no-rust machine thanks to its open frame design, hard anodized aluminum body and superior hardware. It has user controls for the spindle speed (2000-20000 RPM) and mist amount during the milling process. These are critical for metal milling. The spindle speed can be controlled directly from the G-code.
APSX SPYDER is a 3 axis CNC machine as default. The X-axis is left to right. The Y-axis is front to back. The Z-axis is down and up.
The 4th axis is optional and can be added during the ordering process on our website. The 4th-axis is called A-axis. The 4th rotary axis headstock, firmware and wiring are added during the machine assembly.

CNC milling machine programming
Spyder CNC uses the g-code as the program input.
- Any CAD software such as Fusion 360 or Solidworks can be used to create 3D files for the parts.
- Next step is to generate the g-code out of the CAM software (such as Fusion 360) following the setup, tool selection and toolpaths steps with the post processor.
- Final step is to transferring the g-code to the Spyder CNC and running the program.
How to machine aluminum, brass, steel and other metals on Spyder CNC
Use a feeds and speeds calculators with caution.
Use 2 or 1 flute carbide endmills. If you prefer DATRON end mills, you can buy here. Have the mist feature on all the time.
Increase the depth of cut gradually. Spyder CNC has the overload protection feature with instant auto stop if there is a stall risk occurs.
Where to use the Spyder CNC Desktop Milling Machine
